Friday Feature – KNOWING DESTINY by Tamsin Baker

Today, I have the pleasure of hosting Aussie erotic author Tamsin Baker. She’s recently Knowing Destiny through Evernight Publishing. Here’s what you need to know about the book and the author…

Shifters of the Land, Sea, and Air, 2

Chase, a golden eagle shifter, is destined to be the leader of his flock, the shifters of the air. But he has a few problems. Not only is he not ready for the responsibility, he isn’t even sure whom he wants as his mate—and there’s the little issue of an unsolved killing to sort out.

Ben is also a golden eagle shifter, but more importantly, he is Chase’s best friend and three-time lover. He wants to be his best friend’s mate, but can he be honest about his feelings?

Ariana is a young peregrine falcon shifter who has loved Chase for years. But how could she say anything? After all, why would he want her when he can have anyone he wants?

Three shifters, with three separate problems, all fighting to find out who they are and how they can love one another.

Be Warned: menage sex (MMF), anal sex, m/m sex

“Yeah, all better now thanks to Ariana and some sleep.”

Ben smiled, his brown eyes darkening at the mention of Ariana’s name.

“She your latest? Isn’t she a bit young to be fooling around with?”

Chase clenched his fists and glared at his friend, his best friend. He was also the only man Chase had ever fucked. The attraction between them was considered unnatural, but they had indulged in it the few times they had been drunk enough and alone.

“I’m not fooling around with her. I want to know more about her, and she literally ran away from me just now.”

Chase didn’t miss the pain and anger that flashed across Ben’s face before it was quickly disguised. What was that about?

“Why? You like her?”

Ben shook his head. “She’s cute but not on my radar.”

Envy pulsed through Chase, and he hated himself for it. The pleasure he experienced with Ben was unlike anything he had ever felt with any woman. If he wasn’t so attracted to Ariana he wouldn’t have believed he was equally attracted to both sexes. Now he knew he was.

He was a golden eagle shifter, and so was Ben. Perhaps it was their similar genetics that called to each other? There were no golden eagle shifting females in their flock.

“Yeah, who is then?”

Ben shook his head and shuffled his feet. “Are we going to talk to the elders today?”

Chase bit back the smile. Great topic change.

“Yeah, I saw my dad last night, but we’ll need to present a full report to the council today I think.”

Ben nodded. “Right.”

He moved away, and Chase reached out for him, gripping Ben’s thickly muscled arm. They had things they needed to talk about, and he hated the way Ben avoided anything personal.

“Don’t, Chase.” Ben shook him away, and Chase let go, stunned. “Later.”

He watched his best friend walk away, surprised by the intensity of Ben’s refusal. Ben was shorter than Chase, about six foot one, but he was heavier, thicker, more muscled. He was beautiful, with sandy blond hair and his warm brown eyes.

Chase groaned and began to strip. He needed to fly. He was so aroused, confused, frustrated. Where was his control? What was wrong with him?

He had felt the pull of change since he had turned thirty a few weeks ago, and it was frustrating as all hell.

He placed his jeans and shirt on his front step and shifted. His arms became powerful wings, and his face became a golden eagle’s beak and eyes.

He leapt and was soon soaring, the wind across his face and through his feathers, a truly wonderful feeling. Freedom.

He knew his father expected him to choose a mate, to step forward and claim the right to be flock leader. He was of the correct age and was the only son of the current leader. It was what was expected of him, yet he wasn’t ready for that sort of responsibility, especially when he didn’t have a mate to support him.

Chase flew high above the forest and moved directly over the land shifters’ houses. Amazing to think that only a few days ago they had attacked their neighbours over something unsubstantiated. Other feelings made him jerk and fly in another direction. Somewhere down there, their big tiger Alpha was making love to his male and his female mates. Jealousy pulsed through him so hard he had the urge to swoop down for a sticky beak. How would that even work, and could it be possible to find happiness in such a situation?

He flew farther and farther from home, only turning back when he was too tired to continue. He felt lost and confused. Only time would tell what and whom Fate had destined for him. Because God knows, Chase didn’t know.

The mystery thriller, Into Dark Waters, sets murder, adultery, and intrigue against the backdrop of elegant ocean travel.  A cruise ship is an easy place to commit murder.  Body disposal’s a cinch, and suicide’s the likely verdict. The only problem is determining how to choose the next victim.

Julie Cooper loves her husband Joel.  She hopes their anniversary cruise to Hawaii will be a new beginning for them.  Before her suitcases are unpacked, someone unleashes a campaign of terror against her.  Anonymous threats, cryptic messages in her cabin, and an attempt on her life force Julie to look at the one person who might want her dead; the one person she trusted with her life.

Joel is fond of Julie and glad he married her.  But right now he is shooting up the corporate ladder and the benefits have gone to his head.  Remembering his socially awkward youth, half of him is surprised at the money he is making and the prestige he now enjoys.  The other half is positive he earned it.  For the first time in his life, Joel believes he is irresistible.  Why wouldn’t he?  Kim Rochelle, every man’s fantasy, seduced him and now warms up his private office on a regular basis.  Too bad he’ll have to leave Kim when he cruises to Hawaii with his wife–or will he?

Excerpt from Into Dark Waters:

He moaned, deep and feral, as he watched her walk by.  I see you.  I see you gloriously alone.  Not a soul paying any attention to you–except for me.  “Don’t go back to your room yet, little Geri,” he whispered.  “Just keep going; the deck is waiting.  I know you well enough to know that you’ll choose to go somewhere private, away from the crowds.  Enjoy the beautiful night, Geri.  Keep walking.”  He smiled when she moved past her stateroom door with only the slightest hesitation.

It was dangerous to take her on the first night.  There were more people out walking around now than there would be later on in the cruise.  There was another problem.  After Geri was celebrated, there would be twelve nights left.  What would he do for all that time?  There would be no anticipation, no planning or no dreaming to entertain him.  Maybe he could look at the other girls.  He’d invited a lot of them.  But he never knew which ones would come, or which one would appeal to him when he saw her face.  He’d never spent time with more than one girl on the same trip.  He was a one-woman-man.  He laughed at his own joke.  But tonight Geri was calling him.  He would take care of Geri now and worry about the rest of the cruise later.

The white wake foaming up over the dark water mesmerized Geri; and the sheer power of the ship cutting across the ocean thrilled her.  Looking out, she could see nothing, just black.  No stars, no fish.  The sea felt almost sinister, and the hair on the back of Geri’s neck rose.  The great dark ocean swirled deeply beneath and around her, hiding predators and prey.  It showed nothing–revealed nothing, and it suited her mood.  She could hear dancing on the open deck above, but she did not want to be there.  The sound was too cheerful in contrast to her gloom.  Here she stood alone–she felt much safer when she was alone.  Geri didn’t hear him walk up behind her.  She sensed his presence only as he slid the scarf around her neck.  Before she could move or make a sound, he twisted it tight.  Then there was nothing at all.

About the Author:

Rebecca Reilly spent 39 days traveling the oceans last year to “research” Into Dark Waters.  She loves research!  When she’s in her Northern California home, she works as a pastor of student ministries, a massage therapist, a health coach, and a writer.  Rebecca enjoys variety in life and in books.  Nora Roberts, Georgette Heyer, Jane Austen, James Patterson, LM Montgomery, and Lisa Lutz are among her favorite authors.  She enjoys writing mysteries, but has also written humor (Diary of a Christian Woman: How I Used 50 Shades of Grey to Spice Up My Marriage) and a children’s chapter book (The Geek Club).  Right now, Rebecca is working on follow-up novels in all three genres.  You can follow Rebecca on Facebook ( and Twitter (

Sound interesting? Pre order here or read on for an excerpt and a little about Jasmine.

Sarah Maddox zipped up her thigh-length stiletto boot and stepped back to study her reflection in the floor-to-ceiling mirror. She looked pretty damn good. She had piled her dark hair on top of her head and the eye mask she wore made her look almost cat-like, her full scarlet lips a startling contrast. A leather choker was around her neck. Below the choker her cleavage spilled out of a corset tied gaspingly tight. The black leather mini she wore barely brushed the tops of her thighs. Two inches below started her stiletto boots.

“Perrrfect,” she purred. “Goodbye, Sarah. Hello, Mistress Kitty,” she said to her reflection.

She removed her mask and tucked it into her handbag and after donning a full-length black coat she left her apartment. When she arrived downstairs the car was already waiting.

“Hello, Monty,” she greeted the driver as she slid into the back seat.

“Good evening, Mistress,” he replied as he pulled away from the kerb and smoothly merged with the traffic.

Her place of work was normally only a ten-minute drive from her apartment if the traffic was light, and about eleven minutes later Monty pulled to a stop in front of an understated multi-storey building. After parking, he made his way to the back door and assisted her out of the car.

Kitty thanked him, punched in the security code and entered the building through a discreet doorway. As she did so, she stepped into Fantasy.

From the outside the building looked identical to many others and could have been a typical office complex but on the inside it looked magical. Glittering chandeliers hung from the high ceilings, the walls were adorned with mirrors and expensive pieces of erotic art, plush lounge suites were expertly scattered to ensure privacy, and crystal glasses and expensive bottles of champagne and liqueurs adorned mirrored tables to be enjoyed with caviar and oysters. A selection of Venetian-style masks was also provided in which the clients could relax anonymously. Music was piped in through discreetly hidden speakers—never obtrusive, the music was selected for its mood-enhancing qualities.

Another very important detail about Fantasy was that all clientele were assured absolute privacy and discretion. No real names were used and no contact details recorded. Madam Boudica followed a strict booking system and, whilst convoluted, it ensured that a customer’s privacy was guaranteed. Clients booked under an assumed name that was used for all subsequent bookings. Another assurance against identity exposure was the wearing of masks. There was also one particularly important rule—no sex with the clients.

Mistress Kitty made her way over the plush carpet to the office to check her diary. Each of the girls had their own diary listing their clientele for each evening. The left-hand column recorded the client’s pseudonym, the middle column listed the particular fantasy the client wished to indulge, while in the right-hand column was recorded any particular requests or special instructions. She ran a manicured finger down the list of clients. All were regulars except for her first client of the evening—a Mr X.

Jasmine’s alter ego lives in Sydney, Australia with her husband and their Border Collie. She enjoys cooking, travelling with her husband, outdoor activities and skiing. She loves reading all genres but in particular she enjoys romance novels and thrillers and her Kindle is never far from her side.

Jasmine loves writing and is always looking for new ideas for stories that will provoke inner passions, stimulate the senses and ignite the imagination.

She has won some short story competitions but now she is excited to be publishing her first novel, From Leather to Lace through Total-E-Bound publishing. Later this year, also through Total-E-Bound, Jasmine’s second romance, Serena’s Submission will be published.

Friday Feature – WEATHER WITCH by Shannon Delany

Today I have the pleasure of featuring Shannon Delany and her YA book, Weather Witch.

The first in an exciting new young adult series from 13 to Life writer Shannon Delany, Weather Witch is about a young woman enslaved for being a weather witch, and who must fight for her freedom to be with the boy she loves.

Some fled the Old World to avoid war, and some fled to leave behind magick. Yet even the fiercely regulated New World–with its ranks and emphasis on decorum–cannot staunch the power that wells up in certain people, influencing the weather and calling down storms. Hunted, the Weather Witches are forced to power the rest of the population’s ships, as well as their every necessity, and luxury, in a time when steam power is repressed.

Jordan Astraea hails from a flawless background with no taint of magick, but on her seventeenth birthday she is accused of summoning an unscheduled storm. Taken from her family, Jordan is destined to be enslaved on an airship. But breaking Jordan may prove to be the very thing her carefully constructed society cannot weather.

Excerpt for Weather Witch:
The knock roused Bran from his reading, and taking the lantern, he stumbled to the door of his modest apartments on the tower’s thirteenth story. Listening for any sign of trouble (because a summoning at such an hour was highly unusual) the Maker slid open the peephole and peered out at one of the town’s watchmen. He was a great beast of a man, tall, broad, and with a wicked scar that turned his every expression into a sneer.
“Mister Maker, sir. Seems we’s got a late night delivery of some import for you,” the man said, his rank breath seeping in to sting Bran’s eyes.
Bran slammed the peephole shut, squinting. “There is no delivery of such great import that should pull a man from his privacy at this hour. Find me first thing in the morning,” he ordered. As he turned away, more knocking sounded. A distinct and rapid knocking. “Sir, good Maker,” came the high-pitched voice of Maude, the head servant. What brought her to his door at such an hour raised many questions in his mind. He and she had parted ways weeks ago and he had already seen her enjoying the attentions of another man.
“Good Maker,” Maude tried again, “I really must insist…”
He rubbed his eyes and fiddled with the locks on his door, grumbling his way through each. “Dear God, Maude, what could possibly have been delivered at such an indecent hour and of such great import as to cause you and a watchman to be at my door demanding my attention?” The door groaned open and he glared at them both with equal vitriol.
One hand tucked behind her back, Maude looked over her shoulder and made a soft cooing noise. The watchman shifted his substantial weight from one foot to another, peering behind Maude’s back.
“What?” Bran demanded.
“Have a care, you’ll frighten the poor dear…”
“The poor–?” He dodged around her, shoving Maude aside.
There was a squeal and a blur of movement as a child dashed behind Maude’s skirts to hide again.
About the Author:
Shannon Delany grew up in a community that was traditional and respectful of superstitions and old religions and was very creative. She was surrounded by arts, crafts, and other languages from a young age and enjoyed sampling everything that atmosphere had to offer. Her childhood directly impacted her fascination with myths, legends, and the paranormal and has enjoyed using that information to write her 13 TO LIFE and WEATHER WITCH novels and her short stories.

More about the book…

Chapter 1

The Mouse Ran Up the Clock

Sussex, England, March 23, 2037

She followed him up the steep hill. He was able to run much faster than her but she trudged on, climbing higher and higher. He stopped at the top and turned to wait, his eyes fixed on her. Once she reached him she fell to her knees, out of breath, and threw her arms around his neck. He panted and nudged his head into her chest, then wagged his tail.

“You have to slow down, boy,” Katya said to her companion. “I just can’t run uphill that fast. Now take me to Cyrus. Come on, Dickory; show me where Cyrus is, boy.”

Katya’s new friend was a large yellow mixed-breed of the canine variety. He was probably part Retriever of some sort. Although she didn’t know his breed mixture, Katya saw him asone hundred percent lovable. She and Cyrus found him wandering around there in Sussex, England after their car had broken down. On his collar was an old tarnished brass tag that had the inscription, Hickory Dickory Doc, KC 06, but no address could be found. Cyrus had said the natural thing for him would have been to call him Doc but for some reason, Katya started referring to him as Dickory.

He led her onward as if with urgency. When they approached the town square around the castle, music could be heard. Katya blinked as she saw medieval people dancing with merriment and playing instruments. She stood there with her mouth opened in amazement. Had she time-traveled over a thousand years in the past without even knowing it?

Friday Feature – High Heels in New York by A.V Scott

Today I have the pleasure of having my good friend AV Scott on the blog. I met Aviva via facebook when we both launched our debut novels around the same time and we struck up a firm friendship.

I had the pleasure of reading High Heels in New York as Aviva re-wrote it after pulling it from sale early this year when a mix up in the files saw the storyline to get a little off track and poor reviews to poor in.

Unfortunately, the reviews are still there, but I urge you to ignore any reviews put up before June 2013. This little piece of chick lit is very entertaining indeed. I loved the characters, the wit, and the writing. I can’t to see what happens in the next book of this four book series.

Disclaimer: This book has been extensively edited and storyline updated. However, amazon will not remove reviews from originally published version. All reviews prior to June 16, 2013 are based off originally published version from 2012.

Melissa De La Rosa has never felt luckier. She is to marry her ideal man, and about to launch her shoe line during the coveted fashion week in New York. But in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart when tragedy strikes, unleashing a string of events she never in her wildest dreams anticipated.

Then there’s Angelina, is a Hollywood has-been who can’t break her addiction to drugs, which she basically needs to actually function. Banking on her latest picture to launch her back into Hollywood royalty, a long kept secret vows to destroy the life she’s so carefully crafted.

In the city that never sleeps, secrets are never truly hidden.

A.V. Scott was born in 1978 in Caguas, Puerto Rico and was raised in Brooklyn, New York. Her obsession with cupcakes began after moving to Florida, where she opened a cupcake store that specialized in mini cupcakes. She is currently an online blogger, freelancer, Poet and ebook author. She is a member of the Florida Writers Association.

She can be found on Facebook and Twitter, where she keeps readers up to date on her writing life.

You can follow A.V. SCOTT here…

More about the book…

I thought I’d share with you one of the sections that I really enjoyed, it’s when Melissa the main character is talking to her best friend Angie over lunch.

‘I raised an eyebrow as I watched Angie speak. I knew there was something more she wasn’t telling me. She had been dating Andrew for three months. It was the longest, monogamous relationship Angie had ever had.

“Plus, that ship sailed a long time ago,” Angie said, pushing a piece of salad around on her plate with a fork.

“What did you do?” I asked, open-mouthed.

“Why does it always have to be me?”

“Because it is always you!”

“Let’s face it Mel, it was a long time coming.”

“True, but I’m hoping you sugar coated it just a little,” I said, knowing all too well that nice wasn’t how Angie was wired.

“You know Andrew. He’s not particularly intelligent,” Angie said, rearranging the napkin on her lap. “So, I had to just come flat out and say it.”

I covered my eyes and prepared for the imaginary train wreck as I thought about all the horrible things that Angie could have possibly told him.

“I told him the God’s honest truth. I told him that he was as useful in bed as a pogo stick in quicksand.”

“No!” I choked on my water and tried really hard not to laugh.

“Yes. I stared straight into his eyes and told him Andrew, love is a matter of chemistry, but sex is a matter of physics. I neither love you nor am I physically attracted to your penis,” Angie said, drinking the remainder of her third martini.

“Hit him where it hurts huh. Poor guy,” I said, looking at the empty plate in front of me and trying to ignore the fact that I was still hungry.’
